Jacob Elwart, DEdMin
Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling
Dr. Jacob Elwart serves as Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, overseeing the biblical counseling concentration and teaching practical theology in the M.Div. and Th.M. programs. He also serves as Pastor of Discipleship Ministries at Inter-City Baptist Church (since 2017) and is the director of Delta Biblical Counseling Center.
He holds an M.Div. and Th.M. from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and a D.Ed.Min. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Previously, Dr. Elwart served eight years as Senior Pastor of Ambassador Baptist Church in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC), and also serves as a fellow and an ACBC board member. He desires to advance Christ’s mission by using the Scriptures to help individuals pursue spiritual growth and by training young men for productive gospel ministry. He and his wife, Jennifer, are blessed with two daughters, a son, a daughter-in-law, and a granddaughter.
