Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling
As Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, Dr. Jacob Elwart oversees the biblical counseling concentration in the M.Div. program and teaches practical theology courses in the M.Div. and Th.M. programs. He is also Pastor of Discipleship Ministries at Inter-City Baptist Church, where he has served since 2017, and the director of the Delta Biblical Counseling Center.
Dr. Elwart earned his M.Div. and Th.M. from DBTS, and his D.Ed.Min. from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
Prior to coming to Inter-City Baptist Church, Dr. Elwart served for eight years as senior pastor at a church in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is a certified counselor and serves as a fellow with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC). He desires to advance Christ’s mission by using the Scriptures to help individuals pursue spiritual growth and by training young men for productive gospel ministry.
Dr. Elwart and his wife, Jennifer, have three children.
