Detroit Is Looking Up

What comes into your mind when you think about Detroit? If your knowledge of Detroit comes from the news stories you’ve read, you probably have a pretty negative image. But if you visit the city, you’ll find it has a lot to offer as well, in its own unique way.

That’s why it was refreshing to see a recent piece by National Geographic pointing out some of the positive movements happening in the city. The article highlights some of the entrepreneurs moving into the downtown and midtown areas of the city. It points to some of the cultural offerings, such as the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) and the Middle Eastern culture and cuisine in Dearborn, MI (a suburb of Detroit). The architecture can be beautiful as well. The only thing the article failed to mention is the opportunity to minister and/or prepare for ministry in the Detroit area.

So read through the article, take a look at the photos, and realize that Detroit is a decent place to live and serve for the sake of the Gospel.
