DBTS Welcomes New Faculty Member

Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary is pleased to announce that Jacob Elwart is officially joining the faculty of DBTS as Assistant Professor of Biblical Counseling after successfully defending his ministry research project for the Doctor of Educational Ministry in Biblical Counseling from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. His project focused on equipping seminary students for biblical counseling certification. Professor Elwart will oversee the biblical counseling concentration in the M.Div. program and teach practical theology courses in the MDiv and ThM programs.

Professor Elwart earned his BBA in accounting from the University of Michigan and his MDiv and ThM from DBTS.

Professor Elwart has served as Pastor of Discipleship Ministries at Inter-City Baptist Church since 2017. Prior to coming to Inter-City Baptist Church, he served for eight years as a senior pastor in Royal Oak, Michigan. He is certified with the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors and is in the process of becoming a fellow with ACBC.
